We have walked on this beautiful breathing planet, building God knows what; we have heard the past the present and even the future in books and movies; we have seen different good and bad people, yet we’re still here, not knowing what we have caused this to almost end.
Our future holds the unknown we’ve been fearing of, because we know our filthy mark on Earth: we’ve endangered and extinct some species by stealing their natural habitat, poisoned lakes and rivers that used to provide fresh clean water, released harmful gases in our atmosphere that itched our lungs. And across the whole globe, only the tiniest percentage, tinier than particles of oxygen, have actually done something to prevent your disgusting habits to affect our natural world to collapse.
Humans are amazing in inventing things, from nanotechnology, vaccines, robotics, telephones, and light bulbs that would come in very handy if it made us see other important problems in our planet.
However, I cannot disagree with the inventions that will make our life better, with my favourite shocking invention—using water as fuel! German Cleantech Company has developed a futuristic machine that converts water into fuel. Currently the device is still a prototype and it is only used for demonstration and feasibility tests, however its 70% efficiency rate sends all the signs that it could actually one day become the real deal and I’m ready for it. There is also the creation of human organs, the Stem Cell research has paved the way to greater access to organs, instead of waiting for donors or taking harsh medications. Scientists from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School have discovered how to regenerate the function of human heart tissue through adult skin cells.
Other than the great news, we shall not forget that earth is as fragile as half a broken glass, and we have so much yet to do to fix it than glue things together. Humans now dominate the planet so heavily that we are pushing wild animals and plants into oblivion; the human race is now responsible for one in five species’ threatened extinction. An unimaginable invention that just proved the rise of inhumanity are the TNTs, Missiles, Spam, guillotines, I can name you more you know, I could fill this page with our nonsense creation—but there should be no space for that in here and mostly the out there…
To put this into perspective, such previous events that led the dinosaurs’ extinction were the result of giant asteroids and volcanic eruptions. If this doesn’t stop, this one’s on us, and this just proves that those weapons weren’t the worst creation. We are.
And we’re the creation that’s better at destruction.
